This year the Independence Day celebration at iLEAD witnessed a packed auditorium and campus. The guests of honour this year were Yan Law, the Youth Development Officer at All India Football Federation and CEO of Premiere Soccer Schools, sub-inspector Mr. Nimai Paul from Pragati Maidan and special branch sub-inspector Niranjan Chowdhury. After the inaugural song “Aisa Desh Hain Mera” the dignitaries addressed the crowd on the importance of the day. This year with Kerala witnessing the worst floods, several donation facilities have been installed at the iLEAD Campus for the cause. An announcement was made to notify the audience on the same. The flag hoisting at the iLEAD rooftop was followed by the national anthem and chorus of “Vande Mataram” and “Jai Hind” as the tricolor fluttered high in the wind. Everyone gathered back at the auditorium with cultural events by iLEAD students which included songs, skits and dance presentation that depicted the spirit of true harmony and freedom. There was also a photography contest arranged by iLEAD’s Photography and Film Club (mentored by faculties Mr.Archan Mitra and Mr.Biswadeep Bhattacharya) themed on freedom. The winner from the mentors was Mrs Urmimala Dey Chakraborty and from the student category the winner was M.Sc student Ms Mahnoor Ahmed. At the end, the audience stood up to the concluding oath of harmony, peace and effort for taking the nation to greater heights.
