Digital Film Making

The Indian Media and Entertainment industry is expected to reach the size of US$ 24.04 billion by 2014 according to a joint report by KPMG and an industry chamber. India has over 500 approved TV channels and 150 more in queue. Indian companies create special FX for big-budget Hollywood blockbusters. India is one of the world's largest centers of film production. There is No Business Like Show Business!

Digital technology and innovation have considerably changed the landscape of the entertainment industry, especially in film making. George Lucas predicted that electronic or digital cinematography would bring about a revolution in film making, by dramatically lowering costs.

Today, film making equipment is user-friendly and cost-effective; post-production is an infinitely easier process with a wide spectrum of software to choose from; hi-end special effects and other enhancements are accessible to everyone. Many of the big budget Hollywood movies are shot digitally such as "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" among many others.

Social Media and the Internet are also big contributors in the rise of this industry. Never before has it been easier to publicize, market and distribute films through sites like YouTube, on ipods and cellphones. Digital Film Making adds an exciting new dimension to the film industry.

Course Objective

The course will comprise pre-production, production and post-production for the aspiring Digital Film Makers. It's for anyone who wants to learn simple and practical techniques for making movies, web videos, music videos, documentaries, AD films and other visual stories, training and teaching aids. The participants will build a portfolio comprising of a short feature film, TV episodes, a documentary, and a TV Commercial among other projects at end of the course.

Besides teaching the fundamentals and advanced techniques of Writing, Directing and Producing, the curriculum also addresses Production Design, Camera and Editing, as well as Audio and Music Recording. The course will be taught by practicing industry professionals and will include workshops, labs and seminars. The iLEAD Media and Audio-Visual lab is well-equipped with the latest tools for the course. Placement assistance will also be provided to the participants.
